Sometimes it's worth spending money to get good quality items that will last. That's wise. Despite that, today's post is dedicated to those other times when spending more it's not worth at all, especially for interior design. If you are reading this blog, you certainly care about your house.
But let's face it, new generations of people often don't live in their home country; these people cannot spend £500 for a rug on which the flatmate's cat will probably vomit after 3 days! In case you are one of these individuals, you have my sympathy: during the last 4 years, I changed 6 different houses in 3 countries, and I learned at my cost how to resist the desire of buying stuff for the house. It's a lesson I learned in China, where I lived for 6 months.
When it was time to move back to Europe, I discovered that I had bought more than two hundreds euros worth of objects (saucepans, cute boxes, cushions, bedsheets, and throws, to name a few) and had no space in my suitcases to bring any of that with me... A mistake I won't make a second time, I promise.
But in case you are like me and don't know how long you're going to stay in your house before moving somewhere else, you'd better keep reading. Ikea helps, obviously: it's basically everywhere, and I know that I will always find a cheap alternative to designer pieces without giving up on the appearance. That's why I put together a selection of 9 items that are incredibly convenient and look good in every house. When it's time to move to the new home, you can leave them in the house for future residents' benefit; they all cost less than £10!
That's a new entry in the Ikea family. I bought it 2 months ago and it looks really cute when turned on; it makes my reading corner very warm. I can't believe I found a table lamp that costs less than the light bulb!
It's cute, it's black and it costs less than a sandwich on my lunch break. What else do I need to say?
It's a very soft pillow. I wouldn't recommend it on its own but it's definitely useful if you want a second one... And hug it overnight :)
A nice rug at this price it's already a bargain but I would be happier if Ikea made a coloured version. Even black and white would be great! I'm sure they will do it.
How cute?
Minimal design, scandi style, and in a refreshing white. Shall I also mention the price?
That's one of Ikea's best-seller because it's very versatile. I recently realised that you can also put it with the opening on the side (instead than at the top) and stuck a few of them on top of each other into a wardrobe, in case you lack drawers.
I love this glass: it's heavy, large and really really cheap. I always appreciate a pint of water in my Pokal glass!
That's the only item above £10 but it's still very convenient to be a full height mirror; definitely worth a mention!
