INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT FOR NIDO STUDENT. CURRENTLY IN DEVELOPMENT
A Designer at Heart is in charge of the design of communal areas for a student accommodation in Stuttgart, Germany. The scheme will handover in 2021.
We obtained the desired effect through customised furniture in the bedrooms, ensuring quality and economies of scale. A few statement pieces in the communal areas and a play of colour blocking added visual interest. Last we integrated nature as much as possible and all LED lighting for sustainability. Students' wellbeing is always a priority and we integrated a gym with a wellness/yoga area as well as a practical and inspiring study room and a lounge in the basement dedicated to relaxation, socialisation, and play. At the entrance is another lounge with reception a TV ideal informal study sessions as well as socialization. As usual, attention to technology with smart TVs and sonos speakers are integrated.
The project involved the design and refurbishment of 121 Bedrooms. Overall there were 45 different types of rooms including 2 cluster flats with a shared kitchen. The Communal Areas, with a surface of 442 Sqm, included Entrance & Reception Area, BOH, TV Lounge & Servery area, Study Room, Gym, Laundry, Cinema room, Gaming room. The Inspiration came from Stuttgart itself, a city surrounded by lush nature. This inspired us to add plants, especially in the study room which is a small biophilic hub, with green walls. Practical and with a relaxing atmosphere. We mixed Nido standards and German design cues using the industrial style with pastel colours in a cozy and fun atmosphere.The building was an office. These are built with an open plan so we had a lot of freedom to rearrange walls and the electrical layout, making sure that the paths worked properly as in the same building there are some activities but we wanted the students to feel at home.
