INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT FOR NIDO STUDENT. CURRENTLY IN DEVELOPMENT
A Designer at Heart is in charge of the design of communal areas & bedrooms for a student accommodation in Berlin, Germany. The scheme will handover in September 2020.
We reused all the existing furniture, sockets, and features. We also needed an investigation of the site. Thus, the project managers conducted virtual site visits during Covid19 and maintained constant communication with the contractors. We decided to move the mailboxes at the entrance to free up space from the middle of the room and added bespoke steel benches to offer some seating. There was no reception desk so we are adding one in metal and marble that allows the students to have a better first impression and can see a welcoming face as soon as they get in.
The Garden Studios Project is a refurbishment of an existing Student Accommodation. A Designer at Heart has overseen the development of the new interior for the 231.92 sqm of Communal Areas and the Outdoor space. As a concept, we brought an industrial feel to the space through paint and furniture. We added graphical accents (clean lines of new furniture) juxtaposed to vintage elements (reusing existing furniture). We met several challenges such as working with existing elements like the blue framed façade windows and discovering new ones on site. Also, by German regulations, the entrances needed to be fire-rated Class A1. So, we only had stone and metal to convey a homely and welcoming feeling to it.
